Palestinians are living with the trauma of two years of genocide, the mass destruction of life and the means of living. An estimated 90% of buildings have been destroyed or damaged, and the health system has been decimated. With no reconstruction taking place, the impact of this destruction will be keenly felt in the winter months.
Under the guise of campaigning for ‘Free Speech’ on campuses Kirk promoted a hostile environment for ideas which challenge the racial oppression, toxic masculinity, violence and corruption rife in US capitalism and academia. He spewed an endless stream of frequently implausible lies, and bogus statistics directed at people of colour, Jews, the trans community, migrants, and even climate scientists.
Ukraine is learning the hard way the role played by the different imperialist powers. Russian imperialism has acted in an aggressive, brutal way and will continue to do so until it is overthrown. The US is demonstrating it too is prepared to sacrifice Ukraine’s self-determination for its own geo-political, and mercantile interests. This should be no surprise, it has a long history of brutal military interventions against weaker nations – Algiers, Iraq, Panama, Libya, Afghanistan, Syria, Somalia, Iran. The US and all the European powers are deeply complicit in the current genocide of Palestinians.
